What Is The Way of Salvation?

The Path Of Salvation

What is the way of salvation?  This is one of the questions I will explore in this Bible study.

Paul had an encounter with a psychic reader, who informed the people that he was a servant of “the most high God” and revealed the way of salvation.

Today, I shall define and clarify the path of salvation so that we can benefit from it.  Is it a path or is it Jesus Christ or is it something else?  Stick with me to the end and I will explain.

My name is Leroy and I run this website – “Blogging About the Word” and my YouTube channel.  I have been traversing the Book of Acts and I currently am at Acts 16:16.

That is where I have reached with this Book of Acts Bible study, so today I am going to pick up there.

Reading From The Scriptures

“And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, [and here ‘we’ is referring to Paul and his other Believers, they are on the second missionary journey and they are in Macedonia], a certain damsel with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

Acts 16:16

“The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.”

Acts 16:17

So that is Acts 16:16-17.

What is The Way of Salvation?

So what is the way of Salvation?  If you do a search on YouTube, you will find that many people have different things to say about this topic.

Nevertheless, it is the path of salvation, the route, or the way that belongs to salvation.  It does not belong to some other thing.

Is the way identical to the steps of salvation?

It is not the path of righteousness or the way of God, it is the way of salvation, so it belongs to salvation.

In other words, the way of salvation speaks of the things of salvation, the things relevant to salvation. Therefore, it is your manner of living after you have been saved; it is your way of life after you have received Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

Difference Between The Way To & The Way of Salvation

This path is different from the way to salvation.  The way to salvation is a route that will take you to salvation.

In other words, it is a pathway that will take you to a destination: Salvation; therefore, at the end of the way to salvation, you will find salvation.

What Are The Ways of Salvation?

On the other hand, when you are on the way of salvation you have already found Christ as your Savior. You are already saved.

There are not many ways of salvation. Similarly, there are not many ways to salvation. There is just one way, that is ‘the way’ and we know that Jesus Christ is ‘the way, the truth and the life’; he is the only way to salvation.

Nevertheless, above, when Luke says the way of salvation, in this instance, he was not directly talking about Jesus Christ.

Does Everyone Know The Path of Salvation?

Now let us look at some things relating to salvation, not everyone knows the way.  Why do I say this? Because only servants of the Most High God know the way.

The scripture tells us that this woman said,

These men are the servants of the most high God which show us the way of salvation.”

So only servants of the Most High God know the way of salvation, for, it is not obvious to everybody.

Jesus tells us about this path or “gate” in the scriptures below. He says:

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat”

Matthew 7:13

“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Matthew 7:14

It’s sad but not everyone will “find” this route to eternal life! They hear it but they don’t believe it!

It is the path that we travel after we have found the way and as I said before, that way is Jesus Christ.

So it is that path that Christians follow.  This is not a route that leads to Salvation.  No, it is a path that only those who are saved travel.

So this is like a road that you will find only Christians living on, but yet it is not a physical pathway, it is a way of life or a manner of living amongst Christians.

Characteristics of The Way of Salvation

Now, let us look at some characteristics of the way of salvation.

  • There are not several paths, but one way.
  • This way is now obvious or known by everyone.
  • Therefore, we need the servants of the Most High God to show us this way!
  • It is not a physical route.
  • It is fixed and does not change with time.
  • Therefore, the same path that existed during Apostle Paul’s days is with us today. It has not changed!

It is not a physical route. It is fixed and does not change with time; therefore, the same path that existed during Apostle Paul’s days is with us today, it has not changed.

That way of Salvation is still in existence, it has not changed, it is the same, it does not change with time.  So let me conclude.

Conclusion

The way of salvation in this instance is not talking about Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the way and the life, when we find Christ then we trod on this way of salvation, but when Luke says the way of salvation, he meant the things relating to salvation.

It actually means doing the things which define a pathway of life.  It is not visible to the eyes but it is very defined and Paul followed it.

I am going to go to Acts 18 reading from verse 24.

“And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

They Expounded The Way of God More Perfectly!

For he mightily convinced the Jews and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.”

My point here is that this man did not know the way of the Lord or the way of salvation, or the things of salvation, except the baptism of John.

But Aquila and Priscilla took him and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.  In other words, they told him about the other things relating to salvation that he did not know about.

Without any doubts, they taught him the Gospel of the kingdom of God.

So the way of salvation is very closely related to the things of salvation.

Finally, if God wills in my next Bible study, I shall examine the things that define the way of salvation.

Thank you very much; I bless you in the mighty name of Jesus.  The blessings of the Lord are on you and if the Lord wills, I will see you in another blog post or video. Bye.

In the New Testament, is it baptism required for salvation? If it’s so, and what about salvation for those in the Old Testament?

  2. Leroy A. Daley

Yes. Everyone who died righteous and sinners alike from Adam to the resurrection of Jesus Christ enjoy salvation because of Jesus’ obedience to his Father. He forgave them of all past sins and make them righteous before God.
Consequently, no one could say, at the Judgment Day, that he or she had no opportunity to accept Jesus as Savior. After the resurrection of Jesus Christ, everyone who received salvation in the New Testament was baptized.
Jesus explained to Nicodemus that baptisms are not optional. We must be baptized in water and in Spirit!
