Seem Impossible to Find Time to Pray?

Finding times to pray can be very difficult, sometimes seemingly impossible, when you lead a busy life.

Sometimes the stressful nature of your job, daily routine, or personal life makes it almost impossible to find times to pray.

However, there is great reward in praying at predetermined times. This is very biblical and practical too.

So, today in examining this, our Bible reference is Acts 3:1. And this is a continuation of our Book of Acts Bible Study.

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour” (Acts 3:1).

An “Hour of Prayer” Exists

Therefore, an “hour of prayer” exists.  These two men are not the only ones to keep prayer schedules.

As a matter of fact, they would be the only ones in the temple at the “ninth hour”, if they alone were there to pray.

Scriptures reveal that many great stalwarts of God maintain times to pray. These include Samuel, Daniel, David, Jesus and his disciples, and Cornelius.

Daniel schedules his prayer times and he honors them.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime” (Daniel 6:10).

Similarly, King David tells us that he has a prayer schedule and that he honors it.

He informs us “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice” (Psalm 55:17).

Jesus Loves an Early Morning Prayer

Jesus loves an early morning prayer. As a result, he wakes early and spend time praying.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, [Jesus] went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (Mark 1:35).

Lest you may think this is a Jewish thing, or a Muslim thing to schedule your prayers, the next person is neither.

Cornelius prays to God “alway[s]”. This is one of his daily habits. Is praying to the Lord a part of your daily routine? (Acts 10:2).

“He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius” (Acts 10:3).

Similarly, ensure that you have defined times to pray and keep them. We keep our appointments with everybody besides the Lord.

Schedule Times to Pray and Keep Them

Daily, we make and keep appointments with the professional people we deal with. These include our business partners and associates, lawyers, doctors, even with our pastors and friends.

However, one of the most important appointments is absent. Our times to pray. Make appointments to pray and keep them.

I have alarms on my iPhone, which remind me when to pray. Sometimes, when it’s prayer time and I’m at work and because of hectic business demands and I can’t leave to pray, I work and pray.

But, nobody knows that I’m praying. My colleagues are nearby and they are unaware that I’m praying.

But at other times, when the time is right I excuse myself and go pray.

Here, it goes. As I’m writing this post I didn’t realize that my prayer time has come. But my phone reminds me. Since I have alarms that remind me, I can honor this important appointment. I’ll be back soon!

Start Every Day With Prayer

Well, I’m back! Yes, I actually went and prayed! My times to pray give me immense confidence. Absolutely nothing that comes my way will defeat me! That’s my confidence in the Lord God through keeping my prayer schedule.

Sometimes, even when you are at home, if you don’t set times to pray you never do. You easily forget to pray. Additionally, you will find other things to do. And for many that could be talking to others via telephone.

Start every day with prayer. Before you lean over and kiss your spouse good morning, drop to your knees by the bedside and offer your prayer to the Lord God.

Even better, if you want to experience bonding with your spouse on a higher level, why not pray together?

I wonder, how many people still kneel to pray? Respond in the comments if you kneel to pray.

Similarly, end every day with prayer. I have no problems falling to sleep unless I create them. I end every day with prayer.

As You Plan Your Day Include Times to Prayer

When you think about myriads of stuff as you lie in bed it’s difficult to fall asleep. So, the last thing I do is pray. And I drift off to lah-lah land quickly and sweetly. And in the morning I’m revitalized and ready to go.

But, not before, I pray again. I have this assurance that once I pray anything that comes my way during the day I can deal with it masterfully. Let prayer be the first and last thing you do every day. Then watch how productive your day turns out to be.

Many Believers write down their times of prayer. When you write it you never forget your time. But you don’t have to have a written schedule to pray.

As long as you know when you want to pray and you do you are doing good.

Finally, as you plan your day, include prayer times. Then keep them. This will change your life. You will worry less. You will experience calm, peace, focus, and control of your day like never before.

So, do you schedule times to pray?

P.S. If you know anyone this post could assist in creating or maintaining prayer-appointments, share it with him or her. Thanks and blessings!
