The resurrection from the dead is a foundational doctrine of Jesus Christ and Christianity. What did these apostles preach about the resurrection from the dead that irate these people?
Today, we continue our Book of Acts Bible Study. Our reference is Acts 4:1-4.
“And as [Peter and John] spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them (Acts 4:1).
In the verse of scripture immediately above, we observe three groups of people. However, the last group, the Sadducees is most relevant to this discussion.
Despite their arrest, it was worth the inconvenience. Because five thousand people believed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
We know this for Luke tells us.
“Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand” (Acts 4:4).
Conclusion
Today, there are people who, just as the Sadducees, do not believe in the resurrection from the dead. They openly reject the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Nevertheless, they embrace vampires and the “undead”. These skeptics read this literature and watch these movies. They never miss watching an episode of “The Walking Dead” and others of a similar nature.
But they refuse to believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He is alive. After his resurrection from the dead he was with his apostles for forty days. He ate with them. They touched him and asked him questions. And still they fail to believe it, but embrace a figment of someone’s imagination!
