Should Believers pray to God for protection? Yes, that sounds about right. The Christian life is filled with adventure.

We’re called to live for Christ and glorify Him in all that we do. Does God protect His children?

Yes, He does! God gave His only Begotten Son as a sacrifice for sins so that you and I can live lives of righteousness in Him.

The same God protects His children. If God protects us, why should we pray for protection?

We pray for protection because we’re acknowledging our helplessness and frailty in a dangerous and ever-changing world.

God alone is our fortress and help in times of trouble. No human can replace Him.

How To Get God’s Protection? 

Since Christians should pray to God for protection, how do we obtain it?

As a believer, there are several ways to seek and receive God’s protection in your life. The condition of one’s heart and their faith in God is what makes a difference at the end of the day.

However, here are some practical steps you could take to achieve this:

1. Surrender to God: Surrender your life to God and acknowledge His lordship. Submit yourself to His will and seek His guidance in all areas of your life. Trust that He knows what is best for you and will protect you according to His perfect plan. Have faith, do your best, and surrender completely.
2. Develop a Relationship with God: Cultivate a deep and personal relationship with God through prayer, studying His Word, and spending time in His presence. Seek to know Him intimately and allow Him to reveal His character, promises, and instructions for your life. Build your life around His promises.
3. Trust in God’s Promises: Familiarize yourself with the promises of protection that God has given in the Bible. Meditate on these promises and claim them in your prayers. Some examples include Psalm 91:1-2, Psalm 121:7-8, and Isaiah 41:10.
4. Live in Obedience: Strive to live a life that is pleasing to God by obeying His commandments. God’s love language is obedience. If you want to walk in His ways and honor Him in every aspect of your life, learn to obey Him. Walk in righteousness, love, and integrity.

What Is God’s Promise of Protection?

2. David against Goliath (1 Samuel 17): David, a young shepherd boy, prayed to God for protection and strength when facing the giant Philistine warrior, Goliath. Through his faith in God, David was empowered to defeat Goliath and experience divine protection on the battlefield.

Do We Need To Pray To God For Protection & Safety?

Yes, it is good for Believers to pray for protection and safety. As human beings, we are vulnerable to various dangers and uncertainties in life.

Our lives are totally and completely dependent on God’s goodness and mercy. Prayer is our means to seek His guidance, provision, and protection.

Here are a few reasons we should pray for protection and safety:

1. Acknowledging Our Dependence on the Lord: Praying for protection and safety acknowledges our dependence on God. It is a way of coming to the Lord in humility, knowing that we cannot control or foresee every circumstance in life. By turning to Him in prayer, we acknowledge that He is our ultimate source of security and refuge.
2. Seeking God’s Guidance: Through prayer, we seek God’s guidance in navigating life’s many challenges. We can ask for wisdom and discernment to make wise decisions and to be aware of potential risks. Prayer enables us to align our hearts and minds with God’s will and seek His direction in all areas of life.
