What Is The Day of Judgment?
The day of judgment is that special day that the Lord has reserved to judge the world. It’s judgment day!
“Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” Acts 17:31
Above, when the Bible speaks of “the world”, who is it talking about?
Nevertheless, the day of judgment is a God-appointed day that the world will give account for all actions, thoughts, or idle words, good or evil, to the Lord Jesus Christ! He shall judge all the nations of the world, living and dead, in righteousness depending on whether we accept or reject God’s gift to the world!
Listen as Jesus explains to his disciples the importance of receiving the Word of God and the existence of Judgment Day!
Judgment Day Exists!
He explains,
“… Whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.” Matthew 10:14
He continues,
“Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”
Matthew 10:15
So, by this comparison, we realize that a day of judgment exists!
Later, he chastised two other cities because they experienced the mighty works of God, yet they didn’t repent and believe.
He proclaims,
“Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida[,] for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.”Matthew 11:21
Then, he explains the consequence of their unbelief “at the day of judgment” (Matthew 11:22).
“But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.”
Matthew 11:22
Consequently, we are cognizant that there is a judgment day and that it’s coming!
Before I examine who God shall judge, it is my desire to investigate first, the time of Judgment Day!
When Is The Day of Judgment?
Is judgment day gone? Is it past or ahead of us?
The day of judgment has not yet taken place. It shall happen in the future.
This was one of the topics Apostle Paul expounded to Governor Felix.
“And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.”
Acts 24:25
Note how he emphasized, by use of this phrase “judgment to come”, that it is in the future. Acts 24:25!
Subsequently, Paul cautions us not to judge prematurely for a day is coming for that. Also, note the time for judgment is when “the Lord” comes!
The Apostle to the Gentiles, says,
“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.”1 Corinthians 4:5
Thus, we have seen from the Scriptures that the day of judgment is in the future, but when?
Don’t worry for the Bible never leaves us guessing for it supplies answers to all our questions!
The judgment of God, the day He has appointed in which He will judge the world; this is the last day.
John explains,
“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
John 12:48
The last day is that day in which the Lord shall appear the second time! It’s judgment day!
What Will The Lord Judge On Judgment Day?
The day of judgment is not a time for judging people, but the works or deeds or actions of people.
Listen as the wisest man explains,
“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14
So, we see that it’s “every work” that God will judge and not everyone! But we must bear in mind that we can’t have actions without people!
Why Is The Day Of Judgment Necessary?
Allow me time to utilize a construction analogy to explicate judgment day.
We are building a house. The Lord God had laid the foundation and it is Jesus Christ!
Now, we need to build on the foundation. However, we must decide the nature of the material we will use to build.
The day of judgment shall reveal the nature of the material we used to build on the foundation.
What’s The Nature of Your Construction?
He will utilize fire to test the nature of our construction on the foundation.
So, our job is to build with materials that will survive the fire.
If the fire is able to consume our construction, “we will suffer loss”.
But if not, He will reward us!
I’m not the only person to believe this. Listen to Apostle Paul as he tells us the same thing!
“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon,”
1 Corinthians 3:10
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11
“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble.”
1 Corinthians 3:12
The Day Of Judgment Will Reveal It!
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”
1 Corinthians 3:13
“If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.”
1 Corinthians 3:14
“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
1 Corinthians 3:15
So, you see, Paul teaches us that what we do in this life matters for we will be judged for all our actions.
I’m talking to myself first, but I’m also talking to you, what secret behavior are you perpetuating that you would be ashamed if others had knowledge of it?
Stop doing it today! Change your ways for God will judge you for it!
Is The Day of Judgment For Christians Alone?
The word “world”, as used in the opening quotation of this Bible Study, does not differentiate between sinners and saints.
Instead, it means all the peoples, nations, or languages of this earth.
Do you recall this famous quotation,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16
That’s everyone on planet earth.
This, also means that our religion is immaterial, for whether we belong to Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Baháʼí Faith, Christianity, or any other religion we are included.
The Lord expects every person on earth to build on the foundation that He has laid.
Consequently, God will judge all our works.
Listen to Jesus as he explains this.
“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” Matthew 12:36
We not only will give an account of all our deeds but all our unproductive and negative utterances!
Will Everyone Be Judged On Judgement Day?
Thus, watch your words!
Whenever you need the answer to this question: Who Will be Judged on Judgment Day, know that you will be amongst them?
The Lord Jesus Christ shall judge every one of us on Judgment Day!
But, is it possible that there will be a day of judgment for people too as there is one for their deeds?
Nevertheless, the day of judgment is that appointed day when “every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12).
This has nothing to do with whether we are saved or unsaved, living or dead because God shall judge everyone!
Since God shall judge everybody, why judge each other now? Apostle Paul echoes the same thing when he says,
“But why dost thou judge thy brother? [O]r why dost thou set at nought thy brother[,] for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ[?]”
Romans 14:10
“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
Romans 14:11
Consequently, let’s not judge each other anymore!
To emphasize the fact that every one of us will face the judgment of God, again Paul edifies us.
He says,
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
Hebrews 9:27
Neither is our gender of any consequence, for whether we are men or women God shall judge us!
Apostle Peter And Judgment Day
He encourages us to utilize our time on earth to prepare for the day of judgment!
He reminds us that God is going to judge every action of each person on earth.
“… If ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:”
1 Peter 1:17
I want us to comprehend that Apostle Peter is not telling us to be afraid.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and of sound mind.
Instead, he is imploring us to pass the time of our living on earth “in fear” or in the revere of God!
For, if we revere Him, then we will honor and obey Him. This means that we will be rewarded on judgment day and not punished.
Roe Vs. Wade 50 Years Overdue!
A closer examination of Paul’s diction, in his letter to other brethren, reveals Christ will judge “all” of us or “every one” of us!
Some will be judged for the many babies they had aborted. Others, for the many innocent people they murdered, and many more for the countless number of females they sold or restrained in prostitution.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10
Therefore, no one is exempt for both sinners and saints will be judged.
According to CNN, “The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade Friday, holding that there is no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion”.
A Ray Of Hope!
This ray of hope shined through on Friday, June 24, 2022. This is fifty years overdue because the right to abort a child shouldn’t have been a “federal constitutional right” in the first place.
We don’t have the right and power to decide that!
Only God can give life. We don’t have the right to take one unless the enemy has blinded our eyes!
A legal jurisdiction could make abortion legal or not but not right.
Where is your respect and preservation of life?
Nevertheless, despite the fact that we are talking about your body and your right, you will give an account to God for being a living cemetery.
Removing the legalization of abortion, by the country, has profound spiritual implications.
One of the major ones is a reduction of murders. For each innocent baby, the mother kills someone (relating to the mom) must die.
In most cases, not one person is killed by the forces of darkness but many.
This is an old covenant. Only blood can appease blood.
Not only that but this blood for blood continues for up to four generations.
That means a duration of up to one hundred twenty years of death!
As a result, removing that law reduces the number of abortions and corresponding deaths associated with it!
I won’t discuss this further, but God is not sleeping!
The Sheep And The Goats
So, now that we are aware that the Lord will judge the actions of every person that ever lived on earth, know also that each falls into one of two categories.
Each person falls into either the sheep or the goats.
On the day of judgment, the good Lord Jesus Christ will separate us to the right or left hand.
The sheep go to the right but the goats to the left.
Sheep are those who are obedient to Christ, while the goats are those who aren’t!
“And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:”
Matthew 25:32
Did you observe that “all nations” will stand before God to be judged?
Jesus
“… shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.”
Matthew 25:33
What is the reward for those on the right?
They will enjoy eternal life with Christ Jesus (Matthew 25:46).
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:”
Matthew 25:34
On the other hand, those on the left will be rewarded with eternal punishment.
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Matthew 25:46
Conclusion
In the last day, the Lord Jesus Christ shall utilize a day that God has determined to judge all the nations of the earth for all their actions and thoughts, good or evil!
He shall judge both the living and the dead. The Bible says he is ready to judge the “quick and dead” (1 Peter 4:5).
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;” 2 Timothy 4:1
Judgment day is not a judgment of people but of their deeds.
The Lord shall judge us based on how well we build on the foundation of Jesus Christ or the lack of doing so!
Therefore, we will be rewarded for our construction on the foundation or punished for our lack of it.
Our punishment will be eternal life with Satan, but our reward shall be eternal life with Christ Jesus!
What are you doing about your construction? Are you building on the foundation which is Jesus Christ?
I encourage you to accept Jesus Christ as the Only Begotten Son of God.
Believe in him! And begin to build on him gold, silver, or precious stones that will withstand fire.
Tell others about Jesus Christ! Help the poor and fatherless; the widows.
In closing, choose eternal life with Jesus Christ today!
