Believers Stop Reading Your Bibles
Christians, stop reading your bibles.
I know many of you are thinking that I may not be a Believer in Jesus Christ, but later, you will thank me for this advice.
I am Leroy Daley of Blogging About The Word dot com. I teach Christians how to better understand the Bible. I don’t teach my opinions.
I utilize the Bible to explain the Bible, here a little, there a little, line upon line, precepts upon precepts. Identical precepts must be on other identical precepts or else we will have confusion and misunderstanding.

What Did Jesus Say About Stop Reading Your Bibles?
Jesus was the first person to inform us that searching the Scriptures is more beneficial and superior than reading the Bible.
He informs the people, “Search the scriptures, for in them he think ye have eternal life and they are they that testify of me” (John 5:39).
I want you to realize, though, that the scriptures that Jesus mentioned here, refers only to the Old Testament.
Because at that time, there was no New Testament, the New Testament was in the making.
The #1 Reason Jesus Gives for Stop Reading Your Bibles
So why should we search the scripture? The number one reason Jesus gives in the quotation above is to discover eternal life that God hides in his Words.
So, in order to find it, we must search the Scriptures. But it’s interesting that the Old Testament does not reveal the phrase “eternal life“, not once.
That phrase we only find in the New Testament something like 26 times; so if we cannot find the phrase “eternal life” in the Old Testament what must we do?
We must search the scriptures because even though we might not find that quotation in the Old Testament the concept is there, the principle is there and that’s what we’re dealing with.
So, search the scriptures and now since we’re post-Christ we can search both Old Testament and New Testament for what the Lord means concerning eternal life.
So that’s the first reason to search the scriptures, to discover what the Lord has hidden away in his Word concerning eternal life. Jesus’ Second Reason
Another Reason to Search the Scriptures!
Secondly, search the scriptures to know more about Jesus Christ. The Psalms and the Prophets they reveal much about Jesus Christ starting from Genesis going all the way through to Revelation.
Now, Jesus was not the only person who encouraged us to search the Scriptures instead of reading them.
Doctor Luke, the beloved physician, joined Jesus in this regard. He says, “these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things be so” (Acts 17:11).
So, Doctor Luke provides another reason for us to search the Scriptures.
Searching the scriptures is validating the word of God.
When you hear a preacher or teacher expound on a doctrine or a topic and you want to be sure that what that person is teaching or preaching is the true Word of God, then you should search the Scriptures because when you search the Scriptures and you cannot find anything that that person says, then you know that wasn’t the Word of God.
What You Should Do If You Want Your Knowledge of the Word of God to Grow?
But then that too depends on your spiritual maturity and your ability to really find the Scriptures because they could be there but you are missing them. So searching the Scriptures really is validating the Word of God.
Do you want to know more about born again? Search the Scriptures. Do you want to know more about eternal life? Search the Scriptures. Do you want to know about salvation? Search the Scriptures. Do you want to know more about Jesus Christ? Then search the scriptures because they reveal him. So, Christians stop reading your Bibles, go beyond reading, and search the Scriptures.
I know that Apostle Paul encouraged his young protégé, Timothy, to read. Paul says, “till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation and to doctrine” (1 Timothy 4:13).
You Say I Should Stop Reading My Bible, But One Has to Read to Search
But realize that the only way to search is to read. If we are going to search the Bible we must by principle read, that’s the only way we’re going to search.
But searching is different from reading. Reading is sequential but searching is focused, for we are hunting for specific truths.
So we are jumping from Book to Book, Scripture to Scripture, back to front, Old Testament to New Testament.
That is searching the Scripture. But reading you sit and you read one chapter, two chapters, three chapters or you read four verses. Oh no, when you need to find the truth of God Word’s you must search the Scriptures.
