How Does the Lord Feel About an Abomination?

Abomination, an interview with the Lord.

I have examined transgression, sin, now I shall explore abomination, but in the eyes of the Lord. All sins are not abomination and all abominations are not sin.

All sins are not equal, thus this discussion centers around how God sees a thing. The one thing that we should always strive to do is to please him.

Is our action acceptable to him? Does it please him? Consequently, to know if God abhors a thing, we need to tap into his mind. So I’m going to interview him.

Before I interviewed the Lord God, let me introduce myself. I am Leroy Daley of Blogging About The Word. I can be found at “www dot a to the word dot com.”

All right, so let’s dive into the content. To whom is an abomination? Is it to you and your friends or is it to the Lord? This is an important consideration. So let’s pick the mind of God to know how he feels about an abomination.

In an Interview With the Lord He Reveals How He Feels About Abomination

Leroy: “My Lord God, many people, Christians and non-Christians are confused about abomination. What would you say to them concerning this?”

The Lord: “My son, ‘that which is highly esteem among men is abomination in the sight of God’ (Luke 16:15).

Leroy: “So when we discuss an aversion, we are discussing how one person sees another person or thing relative to another, or how you see it?

Leroy: “Again My Lord, does that mean that an abomination could be an action, a person or a thing that’s okay in the eyes of one party, but despised by another?”

The Lord: “My son, and they shall come hither and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abomination thereof from thence (Ezekiel 11:18)”.

Leroy: “Holy Father, I got it. To you, abhorrences are detestable things, actions, or people.”

Leroy: “King of Kings and Lord of Lords, do you consider people to be abominable?

The Lord: “For all that do these things are an abomination until the Lord and because of these abomination, the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee” (Deuteronomy 18:12).

Leroy: “My Lord and my God, this means that you could see both an action and a person as abominable.

Biblical Examples of Abomination

Now, I’m going to look at examples of abomination to God. The following are examples of abomination to the Lord God, and this list is by no means exhaustive.

Abominable People

The Lord sees some people, some actions, and some things as an abomination.

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God (Deuteronomy 22:5).

Next, “For the foreword is abominable to the Lord but his secret is with the righteous” (Proverbs 3:32).

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord. Though hand join in hand, He shall not be unpunished

Another one in this category, “He that justifieth the wicked and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 17: 15).

And finally, people who are considered detestable to the Lord.

“When he, therefore, shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet stand in the Holy place, whosoever readeth, let him understand (Matthew 24:15).

So all those five examples tell us that the Lord sees some people as abomination. And the final one is a very popular one, The Abomination of Desolation is not a place or a thing, it is a person; a person who is going to defile the temple of the Holy Lord God in the latter days.

Abominable Actions

Now, let’s move on to the other category. The Lord sees people as abomination. He sees some actions as abomination and he sees some things as abomination.

So let’s look at the actions now.

“Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).

So this action definitely, the Lord sees it as an abomination.

Following onto that, this one is another, “If a man also lie with mankind, as He lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them (Leviticus 20:13).

So this follows on the first one.

Another, “Thou shall not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which He hateth. So the Lord hates abomination. Have they done unto their gods, for even their sons and their daughters, they have burnt in the fire to their gods” (Deuteronomy 12:31).

So that definitely is something the Lord hates.

And the final one in this category, “Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen” (Deuteronomy 27:15).

Abominable Things

Seven Abominations

Now, let us look at some of the things that the Lord sees as abominable. These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination onto him (Proverbs 6:16).

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17). A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief (Proverbs 6:18). A false witness that speaketh lies, and He that soweth discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:19).

Now, the interview continues.

Leroy: “The creator of the universe, My Lord and my God, how could I ensure that my thoughts, actions or myself never become an abomination unto you?

The Lord answers, “In all thy ways acknowledge me and I shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:6).

Also, my son, “Ponder the path of thy feet and let all thy ways be established” (Proverbs 4:26).

Finally, glorify me in everything, “That ye may with one mind, one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:6).

Conclusion

All right, so let me conclude. When we discuss antipathy from the point of view of the Bible, one of the most important considerations is to take into account, to whom is an action, a thing, or a person abominable?

Who sees an action, a person or a thing as an abomination?

The Lord sees an abomination as either a verb or a noun, thus lying is an abomination to the Lord. Why?

Because it does not give him any delight. And the Scripture for that is “lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but they that deal truly are his delight” (Proverbs 12:22).

Next, “a false balance is abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight” (Proverbs 11:1).

None of these things give him any pleasure, none of them.

Finally, from the perspective of the Egyptians, a shepherd is an abomination. He greatly abhors the shepherd.

“That he shall say, thy servant’s trade had been about cattle from our youth, even until now, both we and also our fathers that he may dwell in the land of Goshen for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians (Genesis 46:34).

So, come let’s examine ourselves. Are our thoughts, words, actions, and lifestyle acceptable and pleasing to the Lord?

What determines whether each is an abomination is how the Lord sees it. If they are not, how could we make them delight our Lord the Savior?

The Lord equates evil with hate, he sees both evil and abomination as the same thing. See (Jeremiah 44:22) and (Ezekiel 6:9).

Let’s strive to give the Lord pleasure in all that we do.
